why is it that…
people find screaming kids amusing? So yesterday I spent a very nice afternoon at Royal Copenhagen with N. We had lunch and sat there chatting. Had tea and cake and sat there chatting. and lo and behold, 4 hours passed before we knew it. Of course we did a little shopping, and bought something.
And ok, this is really not the part I wanted to tell you about. What I wanted to say was, on my way home after my taitai afternoon, I saw one of the most appalling kids ever. What happened was the train did not have seats, and at the stop where I got on, apparently someone who was sitting in front of a kid and his mum (? i’m guessing) alighted. So there’s this empty seat infront of them. Seeing that most of us are fit young people who do not need to sit even though our journey may be way longer than this parent and her kid, all of us standing didn’t take the empty seat anyways.
What happened was the mother seated her son, and immediately, for some reason, he started screaming away. And then she said ‘ok ok I sit with you.’ and she sat down on the seat and tries to shift herself to one side of the seat so that the little boy could sit. Of course the lady next to them, whom I assume is related to the mother and child in some way, shifted as well to make space for the boy. The boy continued screaming and crying and sat for 1 second before he slid off the seat and sat on the floor flailing his arms around. And he continued crying and screaming his head off.
Now that’s not the most appalling part. What annoyed me most was people around started to smile and laugh because they were amused! WHY? this kid is noisy and flailing his possibly icky arms around, and people are smiling?!
….
I moved to another section of the carriage so I could read my book in peace.
my ‘new’ book has a ‘new’ epilogue? speaking of books, I’m reading van creveld’s changing face of war. It’s a recently published book and this is the first ed, but i don’t know why the cover says ‘With a new Epilogue by the Author’. ?!? O_o Maybe the paperback print is newer than the hardcover one… ?
I don’t feel like writing? everytime after I see my sup, we throw out so many great ideas that I feel like I have a billion things to write. I get all geared up for more research, more writing, and more great ideas. And at this point of time, I would love my thesis to bits. Unfortunately, as soon as I sit down to get these things done, the feeling disappears and a sense of lethargy sweeps over like the Plague. In a couple of seconds I’m busy playing poupeegirl and checking my emails. And updating my blog. And uploading photos. And tampering with one of my consoles. I know I really have quite a bit to do and I know what to do, but doing it? I guess we can all get a phd in procrastination…
it rains when I have time for a jog? I don’t know why. Someone must want me to remain fat.
