Biscuit-y Vendredi

Kinoko No Yama Kinako (Brown Sugar) きのこの山 黒糖きなこ

The Kinoko No Yama and Takenoko No Sato are of the same series with two differently designed biscuits. Kinoko No Yama is the mushroom and the Takenoko of course refers to the bamboo shoot.

For this particular edition, the Kinoko’s flavor comes in ‘Brown Sugar’. The packaging is of course very nice as always, and there’s a nice texture to the box too. It makes me want to buy more even though I have no idea what it tastes like.

The packet inside is even nicer. :)

Now, one might think that this is going to taste super sweet. But I beg to differ. There’s a nice aroma coming from the creamy part of the biscuit. It’s a mix of chocolate (the dark brown) and of course, the ‘brown sugar’ – the lighter colored creamy stuff below the chocolate. At first, this might taste a little like coffee, but after a couple more Kinokos, you start to realize the subtle difference and each mushroom now reminds you of the very basic flavor of brown sugar.

These little mushrooms are certainly very fragrant and even though I’ve never been a fan of ‘the mushroom biscuit’, I am of this edition.

Rating: 8 out of 10
After Taste: Very nice, but don’t be too greedy and gorge on it.
